Ecoburbia Sustainability Workshops: Basic Food Gardening

What can you do in your backyard?

Are you keen to trying growing some food in your garden? Have you tried and failed to get a worthwhile crop? This workshop will look at some of the basics – the structure, chemistry and microbiological life in your soil, how to get great soil, the best way to plant a seedling and seeds, the importance of mulch and how to choose what you should be growing in your garden. Bring along a soil sample from your garden You will leave with everything you need to know to enjoy a bumper crop this season.

Shani Graham and Tim Darby are from Ecoburbia, a business aimed at creating more connected, sustainable and resilient communities. Their work ranges from presenting workshops on good solar house design at local councils, to inspiring corporate executives to introduce a worm farm to the office kitchen. They are aware that developing community is essential to this work, and so make sure there is lots of interaction, fun and play in whatever they are doing.
