BUSKING

We welcome and appreciate Buskers at Nannup Music Festival! So many of our favourite acts have started their musical journey busking! For those who didn’t get selected or just didn’t feel ready to apply, perhaps busking is for you.

Where you can busk

We would love to see you performing along our streets and in the dedicated busking locations, and look forward to you showing us who you are and what you offer.

Buskers On The Depot
We will have our regular blackboard stage set up at the Depot near our Ticket Office, where you can chalk your name in for a short segment each day. A self-managed sound system is available for use.
Friday: 5:00pm – 8:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am – 8:00pm
Sunday: 9:00am – 8:00pm

Buskers In The Court
We will also have a small busking stage in the main food court within the ticketed area. This is our ‘Buskers in the Court stage’, and again you will be able to chalk your name on a blackboard for a time slot each day.  You are welcome to bring your own mic and stand and use the busker cube (PA).

Nannup Unplugged

A third Buskers destination will be the new (unticketed) “Nannup Unplugged” venue which will be located at the Catholic church (Cnr Warren Road and Cross Street).  On Saturday between 3.00 and 5.00pm, there will be opportunities for buskers to participate in a “Buskers Build-up” busking workshop, networking, and performance session. The Buskers Award might take place at the same venue on Sunday afternoon/evening – watch out for more information!

Local Businesses
The main businesses with dedicated busking sites are the Blackwood Café and Nanna’s Pantry. Please see them, select a time and share your magic.   Remember courtesy, if you have a following, ask that they do not fill all the seats for paying customers at these premises unless purchasing a drink or something while there.

Main Street (Warren Rd)
You can busk on the main street of Nannup but please be sure not to impinge on foot traffic or business access. Check with local businesses before you set up.

Festival Street (Brockman St)
Young buskers and children are welcome to busk along our festival street. We love seeing what the kids perform and share with us!

Busking Rules

Our rules are few and gentle:

  • Please register as a busker at the Ticket Office before you begin.  Registration is essential for insurance purposes, it acknowledges you have read the terms and conditions, and you will only be eligible for our 2026 Buskers Studio prize if you have registered.

  • No amplification allowed by buskers – so as not to impinge on programmed venues.  If using one of our busking stages, please keep volume at an appropriate level on the provided sound equipment (ie do not turn it up to full volume) and be sensitive to surrounding venues, people and performers.

  • Please be mindful of others who may wish to busk and do not stay too long in one location.(20-30 minutes at each location – rotating welcome).

  • Only one set per stage, per day on the Busking Stages, so that more buskers who wish to perform, have the opportunity.

Nannup Music Festival Buskers Award

While we don’t have a formal Busking Competition for 2026, Nannup Music Festival is partnering with Hopping Mouse Studios to present the Nannup Music Festival Buskers Award.

Hopping Mouse Studios provides recording, engineering, mixing, production services in a beautiful, creative, and collaborative space. The award comprises one day of recording time, and one day of mixing and mastering, to create a finished product. Total value of $1,500.  This will be chosen by a panel of anonymous industry professionals who will be roaming around the stages and streets to consider the busking performances.

Members of the public who wish to send recommendations can do so via the specially marked box at the Ticket Office (not a voting box, just a “show some love for our buskers” box!).
