About the artist
Fuelling an unstoppable rise through the Perth music scene, Sophian has been a wonder to follow with their genre-defying sound and infectious stage presence. Since their conception in early 2022, they have created an immediate splash in the scene, from supporting artists like Coterie, Bootleg Rascal, Rum Jungle, Dulcie, and joining DICE and South Summit on stops of their National Tours. With seven singles released and celebrated in the past two years, each track has been a testament to their talent, hard work, and quick success with consecutive sold-out headline shows.
Their most prestigious moment to date came when they were named JJJ Unearthed Feature Artist of the Week in April, 2024 just after completing their debut national tour. Adding to their accolades, their single “Beautiful Day” won the 2024 WAM Song of the Year award in the POP category, further solidifying their status in the industry.
Led by Soph Manik, a singer whose emotive range embodies the finesse of Jeff Buckley and the raw passion reminiscent of a young Caleb Followill, his fervor for the industry catapulted the band into early success. Soph is joined by Julia Krsanac on Bass, Tyler Vivian on Drums, and Michael Madafferi on Guitar, forming a cohesive unit that excitedly explores the intersection of Indie-Rock and Pop. These highly talented artists combine a range of influences from Coldplay to Kings of Leon and local friends and inspiration, Spacey Jane.
Having completed 2 Australian tours in 2024, including performances at Nannup Music Festival and a nomination for the festival’s Emerging Artists Award, now, the band has grown from strength to strength. Releasing their debut EP alongside a massive launch show at Perth’s Rosemount Hotel, Sophian have carved their name into the minds of Australian Music Fans nationwide.
