Nannup District High School continues to build on its proud tradition of music education. Students across the school are provided with diverse opportunities to engage with and explore music, from traditional and contemporary genres to songwriting workshops and the emerging world of AI-generated music. Beginning in Kindergarten, students develop an understanding of rhythm, instruments and musical styles. From Year 4, students have the opportunity to learn an instrument through the Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) program.

Student voice is central to the program, with learners encouraged to express their creativity, develop their musical identity, and explore a wide range of musical genres and performance opportunities.

Choir sits at the heart of the school’s music program. Students perform songs from around the world and across genres, from hip hop to sea shanties, developing musical skills while celebrating culture, creativity and collaboration.

As part of the school’s commitment to social action and community connection, the Choir regularly performs at school and community events, including visits to the local hospital. These experiences provide students with meaningful opportunities to share their talents, build confidence and contribute positively to the broader community.

Nannup District High School is proud of its longstanding partnership with the Nannup Music Festival and highly values the opportunities, inspiration and support this relationship provides for students to learn from and perform alongside accomplished musicians.
