About the artist

Hailing from the vibrant port city of Fremantle, Western Australia, Lachy John and The Red Bellies deliver a powerful blend of Australian rock and blues that cuts straight to the heart and soul of their audience. Fronted by Lachy John, whose indigenous heritage and personal journey with grief deeply influence his songwriting, the band’s music is a raw and poignant reflection of resilience, connection, and the human experience.

Known for their eclectic sound and evocative storytelling, Lachy John and The Red Bellies craft songs that linger on the minds and hearts of their listeners. Their live shows, honed through extensive regional tours and appearances at some of Western Australia’s favourite music festivals, are a heartfelt celebration of life and culture, blending folk, blues and roots with the driving energy of classic rock, psychedelia and Australiana. The band’s sound is nostalgic; their influences in pub rock and artists like Powderfinger, Paul Kelly and The Waifs shine quite clearly, however, completely fresh and unreservedly their own.

Since birthing their debut EP, ‘Since I Was Around’, in 2025, the band has been carving out a distinctive space in the WA music scene, offering punters a sound that is authentic, evocative and unapologetically unique. Their songs—infused with tales of country, love and grief—resonate deeply, creating a shared experience that is moving and genuine; music and live shows that connect and impact unforgettably.
