About the artist
I Heart Songwriting Club is a national organisation dedicated to connection to self and others through songwriting. Through online courses, mentorship programs and regional partnerships, IHSC has supported thousands of emerging songwriters across Australia.
“Write Where You Are” is IHSC’s regional songwriting mentorship program, connecting emerging songwriters in regional Australia with experienced mentors, a structured songwriting course, and a pathway to performing at a major festival. In WA, 20 songwriters have spent six months writing and refining original work. The program runs concurrently in regional Victoria, culminating the following weekend at Port Fairy Folk Festival.
At Nannup Music Festival 2027, a group of the WA songwriters performs two songwriter-in-the-round sets showcasing their original songs, and leads a workshop teaching festival-goers an original song written specifically for the occasion culminating in a joyful, flash mob performance. Perfect for anyone who’s always dreamed of performing at Nannup!
“Write Where You Are” is a Songs from the Regions initiative by I Heart Songwriting Club, proudly developed and presented with support from Nannup Music Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival and Folk Alliance Australia. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Music Australia and Creative Australia, its arts funding and advisory body.
