About the artist

From Wonnarua Country, Maitland NSW, Georgie Winchester grew up on a remote cattle farm with two sisters, dial up and Disney Channel. Georgie took a liking to her father’s extensive CD collection, The Beatles especially. Georgie picked up classical piano at age 7, sang in choirs and joined the school jazz band scatting Ella Fitzgerald and Diana Krall.

When Georgie finished up a politics degree in Melbourne, she picked up the guitar for the first time and wrote a song after watching Stella Donnelly live at a Uni gig. Since then, Georgie pivoted, moved home, studied audio engineering at SAE, Sydney and started up a career in music. Georgie gravitates towards Australian alternative blues & folk music with musical influences including Madi Diaz, Oasis, G-Flip, & Ash Grunwald.

Georgie released her self-recorded debut album ‘Follow The Sound’ in 2023, supported the likes of Thelma Plum, Smith Street Band & The Rubens, was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition and was invited to the APRA/AMCOS music awards.

In 2024, Georgie played Spilt Milk supporting G-Flip, Glass Animals & Troye Sivan and was the recipient of the Australian Independent Records Association, Women In Music Mentorship program working with manager/artist AlParkinson. Georgie received a Community Recognition Statement from NSW Parliament for exceptional services to the local community in 2024 after hosting her EP launch which doubled as a fundraising event for Women’s Legal Services NSW. Georgie showcased at the 2024 International Folk Alliance, KansasCityUSA, released two collaboration singles and hit #1 in Newcastle’s Hottest 100 with her single ‘What’s The Matter’.

In addition, Georgie recorded and released an EP with platinum-award winning producer & engineer Garrett Kato (Ziggy Alberts, Angus & Julia Stone), and supported this release with a 60+ date Australian tour supporting Maple Glider & Smith Street Band with the help from a Create NSW grant. On this lap around Australia, Georgie wrote her upcoming rock and roll album ‘dust & salt’, and recorded it at Dashville Festival Studios.

In 2025 she completed two creative residencies — one at Kings Canyon in the Northern Territory and another in Broome, Western Australia — and spent two months in Thailand on an intensive guitar bootcamp to refine her technique. That year she also performed at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Skyline Festival with her band.

In 2026 Georgie embarked on her first European tour, supported by Adele Oliver, playing 16 dates across Hungary, Italy, Greece, the UK, Germany and Switzerland. She released her sophomore album, ‘dust & salt’ in November 2026.
