Volunteer Role Descriptions
Arboretum Workshops Assistant
o Assist artists with workshop setup and pack down
o Clean up stations as required
o Ensure that workshop attendance does not exceed capacity
o Ensure that only ticket holders access the workshops area
Artist Check–in/Instrument Lockup
o Welcome Artists
o Sign Artists in
o Hand out Artist packs
o Take instruments to and from the lockup
Artist Transport
o Transport artists to and/or from Perth
o Vehicle must be able to accommodate at least one artist and their instrument and luggage
Bar Attendant
o Serve customers at NMF Bars
o Stock and re–stock bar supplies
o Must have current RSA certificate
Bar Manager
o Liaise with Festival Bar Manager
o Serve customers at NMF Bars
o Stock and re–stock bar supplies
o Must have Restricted OR Unrestricted Approved Manager status
Bush Breakfast (Catering)
Bush Breakfast for voucher holders on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings
o Serve customers a cooked or continental breakfast
o Cook at BBQ
o Clear tables as required
o Wash dishes at the Festival wash–down station as part of our commitment to reduce plastic waste
Camping
• Camping Coordinators
Please contact the Volunteer Manager directly if you are interested in this position.
o Set up own caravan or camper at entrance to Camping area
o Direct campers to their allocated area
o Explain Camping layout and facilities to campers
o Sleep overnight at the Campsite
o Be contactable at all times
• Camping Attendant
o Monitor the Camping area during the day
o Direct campers to their allocated area
o Explain Camping layout, recycling and waste management and other facilities to campers
o Bring some reading material as there are some quiet periods
• Camping Setup and Pack Down
o Set up tents in Artist Camping area on the Thursday prior to the festival
o Pack down Monday
Entrance Attendant
o Obtain specific instructions about wristbands when you sign in for your shift
o Ensure only those with valid wristbands enter the venue
o Direct non–ticket holders to the Ticket Office or the Volunteer HQ
Festival Shop
o Stock and restock artist merchandise and NMF merchandise
o Receive and process artist merchandise
o Handle sales and merchandise enquiries
o Previous customer service/POS experience would be an advantage.
First Aid Station
o Attend to minor health incidents
o Refer serious incidents to the St John Ambulance or the Nannup District Hospital
o Attend a brief information session on Saturday morning
o Must have a Senior First Aid Certificate (or higher qualification)
Ice Trailer Collection and General Courier

o Vehicle with tow hitch required (with 2.3 tonne towing capacity, includes trailer and full load of ice).
o General drop off and pick up of festival products for 2 days pre–festival and Monday post–festival

Information Tent
o Provide Festival information, distribute maps and assist with enquiries/issues
o Provide general local Nannup information regarding venues and amenities
o Manage Lost Property
o Familiarity with the festival and the local area would be an advantage.
Logistics
Assist with preparing the festival site. Some physical work is required.
Note: Festival setup may include camping during the pre–festival week. Fifteen hours or more of volunteering during setup week will entitle you to free weekend camping as well. Please contact the Volunteer Manager directly if you are interested in this option.
• Setup pre–festival (Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs/Fri)
Typical roles include:
o Set up temporary fencing, hessian walls, marquees
o Set up chairs, umbrellas, decorations, LookSeeDo in the Playground area
o Erect corporate and directional signage
o Setup bars and green room
• Pack down post–festival (Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs)
Reverse of setup procedure.
LookSeeDo in the Playground
o This role involves working with children
o Friendly, happy and creative people are ideal for this position
o Work with festival goers at various arts and crafts stations
o Must have a current Working with Children Check
LookSeeDo in the Playground – Face Painting
o Create inspiring face art within the Family Fun area
o Must have a current Working with Children Check
o Evidence of previous experience may be required as face painting is a Festival fundraiser
RSA Marshall
o Keep access ways clear
o Maintain seating areas
o Monitor crowd for smoking, and disorderly conduct. Alert Security if necessary.
o RSA Marshalls are based in licensed areas so Volunteers must be over 18 years of age.
MC
o Must be comfortable presenting and being on stage
o All material will be supplied in an MC file at venue (stage management, artist introduction, inform audience of upcoming performances, aknowledge sponsors, etc.)
o Assure completion of APRA forms after each artist’s performance. Further notes provided in MC file supplied at venue. FORMS MUST REMAIN AT VENUE.
Raffle Sales
o Encourage people to purchase raffle tickets in support of the festival bottom line!
o This may include roving the festival site.
o A willingness to engage with the public is essential for this role.
Road Warden/Parking Attendant
o Monitor the Festival road closure and reserved parking areas as required
o Ensure that no unauthorised vehicles enter the festival road closure
o Monitor vehicle access to Camping areas and Amphitheatre backstage
o Ensure only those with correct identification enter the sites (by wristband colour & car sticker)
o Provide directions to artists re campsite location and backstage to Amphitheatre
o Bring some reading material as there are some quiet periods
Shuttle Bus Driver
o Transport festival goers to and from the Festival Campground (Nannup Recreation Centre)
o Must have PTD Authorisation to transport passengers in the Nannup 12–seater Community Bus.
o You will need to provide copies of your PTD Authorisation and both sides of your current Driver’s Licence.
Stalls Check–in
Typical roles include:
o Staff the stalls check–in desk on the Friday before the festival
o Welcome stallholders and inform them of check–in procedures
o Manage traffic and temporary parking until stallholders can be guided to their allocated bay
Ticket Sales ATTENDANT (MAIN TICKET OFFICE OR Festival Campground TICKET OFFICE)
o Sell festival and camping tickets through POS system
o Exchange tickets for wristbands – check in ticket holders, scan tickets, hand out wristbands and programs
o Sell raffle tickets
o Assist at the phone charging station as necessary
o Provide cash out through EFTPOS Machine
o Answer general enquiries or direct people to the information desk
o Previous customer service/POS experience would be an advantage
Volunteer Check–in
o Check in volunteers and issue T–shirts & wristbands
o Sign In/Out volunteers for each shift using the electronic database
o Induct volunteers on shift processes and responsibilities
o Notify Volunteer Manager of unfilled shifts
o Deal with general enquiries
o Ability to use a laptop and/or tablet device is required for this position
Volunteer Office Runner
o Communicate messages between various festival staff and locations
o Provide refreshment to volunteers at various stations
o Fill in should there be a shortage of volunteers at any station
Waste Wise Team
• Venue Host (Must be 18 years or over as these are licensed venues)
o Rove around your allocated festival venues
o Clear and wipe down tables in your allocated venues.
o Pick up litter and place in the correct bin. Assist patrons to use the correct bins.
o Empty bins when needed
o Ensure that all venues look their best at all times, wipe down seating and re–set between acts.
• Festival Waste Rovers
o Remove full bin bags from the bin stations at the main festival site on Brockman Street, the Artist Camping area and the town bins on Warren Rd
o Replenish bin liners
o Place full bin bags in NMF trailers (or by the bin for Warren Rd)
o Pick up litter as necessary. Encourage festival attendees to dispose of their rubbish in a manner which supports the festival’s responsible waste management efforts
o Drive the NMF trailers to the Nannup Waste Management Facility and dispose of waste, picking up rubbish bags from Warren Rd on your way
o Ensure that the festival site looks its best at all times
o Record waste data on the sheets provided
• Recycling Team
o Replace recycling bins when full (main festival site and all licensed venues)
o Take full recycling bins to recycling station for storage
o Crush aluminium cans
o Record recycling data on the sheets provided
• Food Court Attendant
o Clear and wipe down tables at main food court and use the right bin for waste disposal
o Pick up litter if you notice it
o Encourage festival goers to use the right bin for their waste
o Empty bins when needed
o Return food court furniture to original setup positions when patrons are not using them anymore (food court site plan available at the dishwashing station)
o Ensure that the food court looks its best at all times
• Dishwashing Station Attendant
o Operate the main food court dishwashing station (wash dishes, replenish water, empty compost bucket)
o Ensure that the crockery/cutlery stations are always restocked.
