Kangaroos with Machine Guns

A musical response in the form of an album, to Archers spoken word and song “Kangaroos with Machine Guns” is the top secret training camp band dedicated to righting the wrongs and turning the tables in the nightly fight of beast versus machine. Their mission is to provide high powered weaponry and training to every Kangaroo in Australia. May God have Mercy on our Souls.

Recorded live and tapped directly into a tape machine at RADA Studios (Dan Caroll), the album took one day and one night and features poetic sing song man Archer on the singin’, speakin’ and gitar. Luke Dux (Floors, Kill Devil Hills, Thornbird) on his electrafried gitar, Ryan Dux (Floors, Kill Devil Hills, Timothy Nelson) on the Bull Fiddle and Todd Pickett (Kill Devil Hills, Southern River Band, Thornbird) bangin stuff withim heart.

“We’d done a WA tour together backing Archer in halls, old peoples homes, and sometimes even guerrilla style at traffic lights in Midland. We thought we should document what we had done, so we booked a studio” – Luke Dux

Most of the songs, they had never heard before – each song beginning with Archers words & poetry and the music would follow. This album is free of time, a modern yet nostalgic journey full of heart, pain and the love of Midland. The synergy of the brothers Dux & Pickett gives heavy space to the romantic and optimistic prose of Archer at turning the tables on night-time road warfare.
