The 2010 Nannup Music Festival was a huge success, Saturday was a sell out and only a hand full of tickets left for Sunday.
Traditional the Nannup Music Festival weekend is hot but this year it was Very Hot!!,
but that did not keep the crowds away, the camp site were overflowing and lots of day visitors came to enjoy the Festival and soak up the atmosphere the Music Festival creates.
The 2010 festival had so many highlights, beginning with a beautiful ‘Welcome to Country’ and smoking ceremony, followed by the children from the Nannup District High School, which lead into a fantastic Lotterywest free Friday night concert, a huge beginning to the Festival. It just kept getting better, local Bridgetown girl Emily Barker was so divine, Liz Stringer so powerful, Harry Angus so incredible, his stories were such a journey, King George inspirational, Hussy Hicks fantastic and The Lonely Horse Band proved too powerful for the Town Hall. Tijuana Cartel ending both Saturday and Sunday night concerts at the Amphitheatre venue proved popular, to dance the night away. Matt Gresham was wonderful, The Pitts what a crack-up, Jen Cloher, such a fantastic songwriter, Ego Lemos his face as beautiful as his songs, Grace Barbe what a sound, Jordie Lane so wonderful, Pagents and Picnics, Dream State, Lunar Circus, Rory Faithfield, Suzannah Espie, Mama Kin, TinPan Orange, The Yabu Band, Coby Grant, Dilip, Rory Ellis all really fantastic artists. John Butler on Saturday evening gave such an emotional performance, what a privilege to honor his past with him. To hear and feel his Grandfathers guitar, resonating through the valleys of Nannup once again was exceptional. Then to finish with a multitude of artists on stage with him, only in Nannup could this happen, it was very special.
The emerging artist award was won by Tom Richardson, he will receive 12 hours of recording time from Sound Mine Studios. The free activities on offer were huge and many children took the opportunity to join in the fun making all sorts of weird and wonderful items and then on Sunday the kids Talent Quest showed some budding artists in the making. Who could not be moved by a delightful rendition of Ba Ba black sheep from a two year old.
These are just some of the highlights of the 2010 Nannup Music Festival.
